Bataraza Mayor expresses thanks to mining companies anew

Bataraza Mayor Abraham M. Ibba recognized the big contribution of Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC) and Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) in the development of the town’s sports facilities.

During the inauguration of the newly-constructed Bataraza Sports Complex last October 21, 2019, Mayor Ibba said CBNC and RTNMC are instrumental for the establishment of the new facility.

“The construction of the Bataraza Complex was funded by the tax of CBNC. This is from the portion of the P500 million tax paid by CBNC last year,” Mayor Ibba stated.

During the meeting of CBNC president with Mayor Ibba last September, the chief executive mentioned about the opening of the sports complex where a portion of the company’s taxes were spent. In the said meeting, he stated that “CBNC can stay forever in Bataraza as long as the company pays their taxes right.”

The Php 500 million paid by CBNC is a real property tax remitted to Bataraza last year.
