Divers conduct coral gardening at mooring dolphin reef and small sand bar

For the Development of Mining Technology and Geosciences (DMTG), Coral Bay Nickel Corporation spent a total of Php 34 million in 2017 for various researches and scholarship grants, including the Coral Gardening Project which envisions to propagate corals within the bodies of water surrounding CBNC.

Coral Gardening Project Team Leader Inocencio Magallanes said that two fisherfolk associations are already assisting them in this endeavor. These are the Biya-biya Coral Association (BCA) and the Mandojara Fisherfolk Association (MFA).

Haribon Palawan launched the project on February 16-17 as a community-based coastal resource management program (CBCRMP) with full support from the Social Development and Management Program of CBNC in partnership with RTNMC.

Aside from restoring and improving corals reefs, the project will also teach proper ways of taking care of the sea.
